Nick Chubb ran all over the Pittsburgh Steelers defense and the Cleveland Browns came away with a massive 29-17 win at home on Thursday, for our second 2-0 night of the season. Prime time is when the brightest of stars shine, it’s not our fault we so happen to be one of them - we’re just on the couch with a beer in our hand. Either way, we are feeling good coming into the Week 3's edition of Sunday Night Football, with the San Francisco 49ers travelling to Colorado to take on what’s left of Russell Wilson and the Denver Broncos.
49ers @ Broncos
The public is siding with Jimmy Garoppolo and, unlike on Thursday, I think we have to side with them. The Broncos’ secondary is incredibly banged up; star corner Patrick Surtain has been limited in practice, and safety Justin Simmons is out. Another aspect working in the 49ers’ favor is how long Wilson holds onto the ball - only four other quarterbacks have longer time-to-throw rates, per Next Gen Stats. Expect Nick Bosa and the pass rush to have a huge night against Denver, especially since Wilson might be without one of his top receiving options in Jerry Jeudy. Wilson might be cooked after completing just 14 of 31 passes for 219 yards against a below average Houston Texans team. I don’t believe the 49ers are losing that much value with Garoppolo under center, who is accustomed to the offense, and he will have George Kittle back in the fold. Let’s get this money on Sunday night and ride this hot streak.
Bet: 49ers -1.5 (-107 at PointsBet)
Kittle is entering Sunday night with “no restrictions,” coach Kyle Shanahan said. An elite tight end who is very familiar with Jimmy G should get the targets required to go over the number of 43.5 yards. Kittle has averaged 63 yards per game over the 15 games Jimmy has started and finished. Denver’s defense has been a cakewalk for tight ends so far, allowing 102 yards combined to Will Dissly, Colby Parkinson, and Noah Fant against Seattle in Week 1 before allowing 31 to the pedestrian Pharoah Brown and OJ Howard. I’m hammering the over on this one.
Bet: George Kittle over 43.5 yards (-110 on BetMGM)
