Please note that the payouts for races 2 and 7 were due to gate scratches of included horses, not because of winning bets. Our total of $94 in wagers returned $66.52. The next two weeks' worth of racing is of lesser quality as we gear up for the Breeders’ Cup on the first Friday and Saturday of November. Instead of focusing on a single card this week, I have combed racing across North America to find today’s best bets.

Keeneland Race 1 • 1 p.m. ET I make 2 Two by Two out to be an overlay if we get the morning line of 4-1. This horse is well-rested and comes in with a few nice published works since his last race. Last time he raced on dirt he made the winner’s circle. Best of all, trainer Ian Wilkes puts jockey Luis Saez in the mount.

Belmont at the Big A Race 5 • 2:44 p.m. ET Irad was aboard 13 Fire King’s first two tries, failing to hit the board either time. Today, Eric Cancel is up for trainer Christophe Clement. That, a bullet work on October 11, and another go here at 6 furlongs tells me this bay out of Palace Malice should be ready to fire.

Belmont at the Big A Race 7 • 3:50 p.m. ET In honor of the Yankees participation in the ALCS, I am including 7 Bronx Bomber on today’s call sheet. (At this point, they need all the positive vibes they can get.) There are reasons to like this veteran that sits at 12-1 on the morning line though. His form since June has been exceptional, including published works. He takes blinkers off today in his first race for trainer Edward DeLauro.

Santa Anita Race 2 • 4:30 p.m. ET Trainer Phil D’Amato has 5-year-old gray 2 Ole Silver entered in the right spot here today. This mare is 2-for-3 going 8 furlongs on the dirt lifetime. This is a small field with no speed signed on. Ole Silver projects to be on the lead and could go wire-to-wire.

Santa Anita Race 3 • 5 p.m. ET Trainer Leonard Powell debuted 3 Quicklikeabunny on turf back in August. She did not take to the surface and finished DFL. Today she drops in class and goes on her preferred dirt. This five-horse field is wide open; take the horse with the highest odds.

Keeneland Race 9 • 5:16 p.m. ET In five career starts, 9 Falconet has been in the exacta each time. Digging into her breeding, 8.5 furlongs looks to be her preferred distance. This is my best bet of the day.

Santa Anita Race 4 • 5:30 p.m. ET For all the Matts and Matthews out there such as myself... I give you 6 Mighty Matt. The long shot play of the day for sure. This is his eighth career start and first on turf. Pace projection has him forwardly placed. Has a fighting chance.

Santa Anita Race 7 • 7 p.m. ET Class drop for 7 El Tigre Terrible in this spot. Deep closer who has a good post position to get his preferred trip. The favorites are vulnerable and beatable.

Remington Park Race 2 • 8:36 p.m. ET Oklahoma Classics Day at Remington Park! A slow projected pace here should work simply fine for 7 Dobbins G and jockey David Cabrera. Cuts back to one turn. Workouts have been sharp. Should be primed to fire.

Remington Park Race 8 • 11:33 p.m. ET If we get 8-1 on 3 Salt Creek Kid, I may have to empty the 401(k) betting on him. Another David Cabrera mount, this 4-year-old gelding sports a lifetime record of 9-3-4-0. This is the toughest competition he will have faced, but pedigree screams 6 furlongs on the dirt.

Remington Park Race 10 • 12:37 a.m. ET One final selection for the night owls out there. If 1 Half Ours to Keep and jockey Lane Luzzi can navigate a clean break and rate right off the leaders, then we can cap off our night with a payday. We should get every bit of the 5-1 morning line and then some. This 6-year-old gray has faced–and beaten–tougher competition. He does his best running at this distance.

There you go. I will bet each of these across the board, for a total investment of $66 for the day. As always, I encourage you to use my analysis and picks in conjunction with your own handicapping to inform your opinions. And most importantly: best of luck playing the races!
