NFL Week 5 DFS (Draftkings) Picks

Olave.png

Each week I will give my favorite Draftkings picks for the main slate of games on Sunday. Good luck!

Quarterbacks

Josh Allen $8,200 - The Bills are implied for 30.25 points on Sunday. That is not just the highest team total, but it is two full points higher than the next highest team. Given the Steelers are starting a rookie quarterback, I would not be surprised to see Allen have multiple short field situations to take advantage of. Josh Allen is capable of scoring 40+ DK points in this spot.

Justin Herbert $7,100 - The Chargers defense has shown some holes in their past two matchups. That should lead to closer games and more pass attempts for Herbert, who looks mostly healthy. Most players will look to pay up for either Allen or Hurts, which leaves Herbert as a great gpp option. I prefer to stack him with Mike Williams and Gerald Everett.

Tom Brady $6,000 - Brady is underpriced given that his wide receivers are all healthy. The market seems to believe that the Bucs offense is back to normal as they have the second highest team total on the slate. If the Falcons keep this game close, Brady could throw for 400 yards and four touchdowns.

Running Backs

Leonard Fournette $6,900 - The Bucs are nearly ten-point favorites playing at home against the Falcons. Fournette saw a drop in snaps last week but that was mostly due to game script. This week the Bucs should be playing from ahead, and Fournette has one of the best chances at scoring multiple touchdowns.

Dameon Pierce $6,200 - Pierce has finally been unleashed as the Texans workhorse running back. That has resulted in back to back games with 20 or more opportunities. Miles Sanders rushed for 134 yards and two touchdowns against the Jags defense last week. Pierce should have plenty of opportunities to replicate that performance.

Jeff Wilson Jr. $5,500 - The 49ers played on Monday night which left Wilson Jr.'s price tag too low relative to his workload. Wilson played 66% of the snaps and handled 18 carries. While he didn't get a target in last week's game, his previous performances have shown he is still involved in the passing game.

Wide Receivers

Chris Godwin $5,900 - Godwin stepped right back into a full time role coming off his injury. He played 83% of the snaps, saw ten targets and turned that into seven receptions for 59 yards. At $5,900, Godwin is too cheap relative to the workload we expect him to see.

Tyler Lockett $5,600 - The Seahawks have one of the worst defenses in the league. That sets up the Seattle pass catchers in a great fantasy friendly environment. Lockett has averaged ten targets, eight receptions, and 91 yards in his last three games. If the Seahawks play from behind, which the spread indicates they will, then Lockett could easily go for over 100 yards on Sunday.

Chris Olave $5,700 - The Seahawks are dead last in yards allowed per pass attempt and Olave is averaging nearly 16 yards per catch. He has averaged ten targets per game in his last three outings. If Michael Thomas is once again out, Olave could see an elevated target share. The puzzle pieces are aligning for Olave to have a massive day on Sunday.

Tight Ends

Dallas Goedert $4,700 - The Eagles have the third highest team total on the slate, and Goedert is one of the few tight ends capable of a 30-point performance. Given he's $400 more than Higbee, I expect Goedert to go lower owned and thus is a solid gpp play.

Tyler Higbee $4,300 - Higbee is averaging more than nine targets per game this season. The Cowboys are weak over the middle but generate a solid pass rush. That should provide Hibee with plenty of short targets to take advantage of. So long as Allen Robinson is ineffective, Higbee should maintain the team's second highest target share.

David Njoku $3,800 - Njoku averaged nearly 15 yards per catch last week. If we expect the Chargers offense to push the Browns into a pass-friendly game script, then perhaps Njoku can pay off with more volume. Tight end is especially shallow this week, and a 20-point performance may lead the position.

Defenses

49ers $3,800 - The Panthers offense is 26th in QB sack rate. That is not a desired vulnerability when facing the 49ers defense which registered seven sacks last week. The 49ers have the best chance at scoring a defensive touchdown.

Titans $3,000 - The Commanders offensive line is 28th in QB sack rate, leaving Carson Wentz in a vulnerable position each week. If the Titans get a lead in this matchup, expect several sacks from the Titans.

Cowboys $2,500 - Draftkings left the Cowboys underpriced given the Rams offensive line situation. This is not the same team that reached the Super Bowl a year ago, and the Cowboys are in a prime position for a solid performance.
