College football’s best bets this weekend

Tulane.png

LSU -3 vs Arkansas

Everyone is predicting a letdown spot from LSU after beating Alabama last week in Baton Rouge, but the Tigers have bigger things to focus on in the future. With the previous week’s win, they now have a path to the SEC title game, which could lead them into the CFB playoff if all goes according to plan. Jayden Daniels has seven touchdowns and zero interceptions in the last three games, which makes me think he has found his stride in that offense to make the right decisions instead of forcing balls into double coverage.

Oregon/Washington Over 72.5

Oregon’s offense ranks first in rushing success rate and passing success rate and they now meet a Washington defense that ranks 96th in success rate, which indicates the Ducks’ offense will be in for a big day. On the other side of the ball, Oregon struggles to defend opponent’s passing games very well, which will help former Big Ten quarterback Michael Penix Jr put up enough points to cover this total. With this game being played at night under the lights in Oregon, expect a shootout as Oregon will put up points, and Washington will need to score often to keep this game competitive.

TCU/Texas Over 64.5

This game could be the game of the weekend, as the fourth ranked TCU Horned Frogs are 7-point underdogs in this matchup. TCU will come out hot in this one, as they should feel disrespected for being touchdown underdogs. This game will be the toughest test away from home for TCU as Texas will provide a hostile environment, but Sonny Dykes will have his boys ready. Max Duggan has placed this team in position to make the playoffs and will have to bring his “A game” with the talented Quinn Ewers on the other sideline. I see TCU keeping it within one score the whole game, with both offenses going shot for shot until the final whistle. This game should be exciting and feature loads of points. And I am not picking a side for this one, but if I had to, I would side with TCU +7.

UCLA -19.5 vs Arizona

This game will be the nightcap to tuck you into bed with a sweat-free winner. Dorian Thompson Robinson has come alive this year as one of the best mobile quarterbacks in all of college football. He gives the offense a dangerous threat on the ground from the QB position, which requires more defenders to keep an eye on him, opening up his wide receivers for big plays. The total for this game is sitting at 77.5, which means Vegas is ready for a high-scoring affair. UCLA’s offense will deliver, it will be up to the defense to make a few holds to open this game up.

Parlay of the Weekend:

Tulane -1.5 & Georgia -16.5 +264 (Draftkings)

I am going to get a little crazy here and say that these are the two hottest teams in college football right now. Tulane was robbed of college gameday this weekend in what would have been an even bigger weekend than what it already may be. I have a ton of confidence in Willie Fritz and the culture he brought to that program. This is Tulane’s highest ranking in my lifetime, and a big win here could even put them in contention for a New Year’s Day bowl game (if they would win out following the UCF game). Georgia, on the other hand, is a different breed this year, no team seems to be able to match up with them for 60 minutes, and Mississippi St. has not been playing their best ball recently. This parlay will be the juiciest play of the weekend for me, and I feel really good about it if these teams can go out and play up to their potential.
