This new feature is designed to help give bettors another edge when it comes to props, game spreads, and eventual trends. Knowing how much wind, precipitation, and temperature will affect the games can save gamblers grief and be very profitable. I will profile every week for the NFL games on Sunday. The MinnixMeter measures the effect of weather on a game from 1 to 5. The greater the number, the higher the effect on the game.
Cleveland @ Baltimore (-6.5) (M&T Bank Stadium)
Time: 1 PM EST
Temperature at gametime: Low 60’s
Sky: Mostly Cloudy, Chance of Showers (30%)
Wind: 5-10 MPH
MinnixMeter rating: 1.5 The temperature will be just fine for football; a quick shower might be nothing more than a nuisance here. It’s nothing these men can’t handle, and for spectators, if it does rain, it should be very light.
Tampa Bay (-11) @ Carolina (Bank of America Stadium)
Time: 1 PM EST
Temperature at gametime: Around 70 degrees
Sky: Mostly Sunny
Wind: Light and variable
MinnixMeter rating: 1.0 A gorgeous day in Charlotte for some football!
Atlanta @ Cincinnati (-6.5) (Paycor Stadium)
Time: 1 PM EST
Temperature at gametime: Mid 70’s
Sky: Mostly Sunny
Winds: Light and Variable, below 10 MPH
MinnixMeter: 1.0 You can’t ask for much better weather in southern Ohio this time of year. It will be a picture-perfect day for football!
Detroit @ Dallas (-7) (AT&T Stadium)
Time: 1 PM EST
Temperature at gametime: Mid to Upper 80’s
Sky: Mostly Sunny
Wind: Breezy South wind, 15-25 MPH, with gusts to 35 MPH
MinnixMeter Rating: 2.0 While Cowboys Stadium sits underground and has a retractable roof, it will most likely not be opened here. The temperature may cause some cramping, and the wind may affect some long field goals. If there are those bigger gusts, deeper throws may have some issues.
New York Giants @ Jacksonville (-3) (TIAA Bank Field)
Time: 1 PM EST
Temperature at gametime: Mid to Upper 70’s
Sky: Mostly Sunny
Winds: From the Northeast at 5-10 MPH
MinnixMeter Rating: 1.0 It will be a nice day for football in Jacksonville!
Indianapolis @ Tennessee (-2.5) (Nissan Stadium)
Time: 1 PM EST
Temperature at gametime: Mid 70’s
Sky: Mostly Sunny
Wind: South at 5-10 MPH
MinnixMeter Rating: 1.0 It looks like beautiful weather all over the Mid-South for Sunday’s games, Nashville will be no exception!
Green Bay (-4.5) @ Washington (FedEx Field)
Time: 1 PM EST
Temperature at gametime: Mid 60’s
Sky: Mostly Cloudy, Chance of Showers (30%)
Wind: Light winds less than 10 MPH
MinnixMeter Rating: 1.5 Just like in Baltimore, the chance of rain is nothing more than a nuisance. It won’t be a deluge if it does happen, and the temperatures are just about perfect for football. I don’t think it will affect very much at all except to possibly make the field damp.
New York Jets @ Denver (-1.5) (Empower Field at Mile High)
Time: 4:05 EST
Temperature at gametime: Low 60’s
Sky: Cloudy, Chance of Rain (40%)
Winds: Breezy, with winds gusting to 30 MPH
MinnixMeter Rating: 3.0 With a storm system moving into the Rockies, this could be a dreary, windy mess. The combination of both could definitely affect the kicking and passing games. It may be a spot for the running backs to shine. Keep an eye on this game and don’t hesitate to bet the under.
Houston @ Las Vegas (-7) (Allegiant Stadium)
Time: 4:05 EST
Temperature at gametime: Mid to Upper 60’s
Sky: Mostly Sunny
Wind: Out of the Northwest, 10-15 MPH, gusting to 25 MPH
MinnixMeter Rating: 1.5 I only added a little bit to the rating due to a wind advisory in effect for the morning hours in Las Vegas on Sunday morning. My thoughts are that the heaviest of the winds will be long gone before gametime, and it should be a very nice day for football. Still, if anything slows down in the forecast, those strong winds can make it back into the picture. I don’t think they will but keep an eye on it.
Seattle @ Los Angeles Chargers (-5.5) (SoFi Stadium)
Time: 4:25 EST
Temperature at gametime: Upper 60’s
Sky: Mostly Sunny
Wind: From the Southwest, 10-15 MPH, gusting to 25 MPH.
MinnixMeter Rating: 1.2 The only way the wind will be a big factor is on long field goals. Other than that, it will be a beautiful day for football in southern California.
Kansas City (-2.5) @ San Francisco (Levi’s Stadium)
Time: 4:25 EST
Temperature at gametime: Low to Mid 60’s
Sky: Mostly Sunny
Wind: Northwest 10-15 MPH, gusting to 25 MPH
MinnixMeter Rating: 1.2 Just like in Los Angeles, the main factor in this game will be the wind and that will be on long field goals. Other than that, it should be beautiful football in the Bay area!
Pittsburgh @ Miami (-7) (Hard Rock Stadium)
Time: 8:20 PM EST
Temperature at gametime: Upper 70’s to near 80
Sky: Mostly Clear
Wind: Northeast 5-10 MPH
MinnixMeter Rating: 1.0 A wonderful evening in south Florida for a big Sunday night game!
Chicago @ New England (-7.5) (Gillette Stadium)
Time: 8:15 PM (Monday Night)
Temperature at gametime: Mid 50’s
Sky: Mostly Cloudy, Chance of Showers (40%)
Wind: Light and Variable from the Northwest
MinnixMeter Rating: 1.2 The rain will seem to be winding down at this point on Monday, but the field may be damp. It’s nothing an NFL grounds crew can’t handle, and it shouldn’t affect any part of this game adversely.
Final Synopsis
While every game is outdoors this week, there are no gigantic weather systems to interfere with the action going on in week 7. It won’t last long however with November quickly approaching. Make sure this is your last read of the week before you finalize your bets!
