TNF: More Moore please

Week 10 of Thursday Night Football offers us a rematch between two divisional foes, the Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers. These two teams just met in Atlanta a couple of weeks ago in what ended up being one of the most entertaining games of the year thus far. Can we expect another high-scoring and thrilling affair between these two teams? Oddsmakers certainly don’t believe so: the over/under for the game is set at 43 (odds via Caesar’s Sportsbook).

On October 30, 2022, the Falcons scored 37 points en route to an overtime victory over the Panthers. With both teams competing for first place in a wide-open NFC South, there were some big offensive performances on both sides. Although, one performance stuck out more than the rest in this back-and-forth affair, which is why I will be going back to the well for this game.

Every week Pat Mayo hosts Geoff Fienberg and Tim Anderson as they build a portfolio of futures throughout the NFL season, going head-to-head to see who the ultimate Futures Bettor is by playoffs.

Since the Panthers decided to fire Matt Rhule and trade away star running back Chrisitan McCaffrey, this offense has looked like a functional NFL offense (which is a big step in the right direction considering where they were with Rhule at the helm). The biggest beneficiary of these moves has been wideout DJ Moore, who recorded a 6-152-1 statline against the Falcons the last time these teams met. Moore has scored a touchdown and received double-digit targets in two of the four games since Rhule’s departure, one of those games being the monster performance versus Atlanta.

The Falcons are expected to continue being without their top two cornerbacks, AJ Terrell and Casey Hayward, in this contest. Meaning, that PJ Walker and the Panthers should be able to expose the Falcons through the air yet again. PJ Walker had a career-high in passing yards against the Falcons and was not afraid to target Moore in all areas of the field.

Not to mention, Moore has notoriously had his with the Falcons throughout his career. Since 2019, he’s recorded 55+ yards in every game he’s played against them (seven games). With that being said, the total over/under receiving yards of 56.5 feels way too low. Bet the over on Moore’s receiving yardage and watch him carve up this Falcons secondary for a second time in three weeks.

My Pick: DJ Moore o56.5 Rec Yards (-118 odds via BetRivers Sportsbook)
